While most people can identify the Laborers’ Union in the construction field, they don’t realize that the Laborers’ represent a very diversified work force throughout the SCILDC jurisdiction.
From Cairo, Marion, Mt. Vernon, Effingham, Champaign and Danville, across to Decatur, Springfield and Jacksonville, back down to Litchfield, Hillsboro, Greenville, Pickneyville and Carbondale, the SCILDC represents over 5000 public and private sector members in a wide variety of occupations. In our central file we have over 215 collective bargaining agreements with a wide variety of employers. From this site you can access all of the different employers we have contracts with as well as the type of work our members do. Please take a minute to check this list out.
The SCILDC provides assistance to its Local Unions by helping with organizing drives, negotiating contracts and servicing the membership. It is our goal to continue to organize the unorganized and to provide the leadership necessary to move our Union forward.
